Instructor - Roy Kinkaid

Roy Kinkaid is an independent quality consultant (25+ years of experience) with an extensive background in the implementation of various quality management systems - Six Sigma, Baldrige, Continuous Improvement, ISO and the Carnegie Mellon Capability Maturity Model.  

Roy has a degree in management/ statistics from Philadelphia University, certification in Six Sigma, and is a member of ASQ, the SEI, and IEEE Software Society.

He has practical process improvement experience in manufacturing, service, software, and electronic commerce industries, helping companies to achieve six sigma quality performance levels.  In addition Roy has hands on experience with change management, coaching and the facilitation skills necessary to implement a quality program. He has extensive experience working in Europe, the UK and Asia.

Introduction:

What is Six Sigma/ Lean for Education?

  • It is a repeatable methodology that is strategically focused on improving all parts of a Educational organizations
  • It improves the effectiveness, efficiency (financial) of processes that impact the Students and stakeholders

 

Abstract:

The purpose of the four hour Six Sigma/Lean overview is to familiarize Education organization leaders with:

 

·        The Six Sigma/Lean methodology as it applies to Education

·        Quality tools that are included in the methodology

·        Successful applications of methodology

·        Deciding if Six Sigma/Lean is appropriate for their organization

·        Training available through the American Society for Quality – Philadelphia 0505 Section

 

Overview Content/Learning Objectives

 

  • Definition of the Six Sigma/Lean, Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control methodology as it applies to Education
  • Quality tools included in the methodology definition and examples of their application
  • Articles published by Education organizations of successful application of the methodology
  • Advantages of the methodology
  • Awareness of the Section’s On Site Six Sigma/Lean Training course, ES 401, for Education organizations

  • Superintendents, Directors, Educations and Staff, and anyone interested in learning more about Six Sigma/ Lean as it applies to education
